Digital and information security

Open Briefing offers a human-centred approach to digital and information security – grounded in understanding your risks and protecting your information, wherever it is.

We help grassroots activists and nonprofits and foundations of all sizes understand and mitigate information security risks. We’ll work with you to assess your security posture, identify vulnerabilities, train your team and partners, and put the right safeguards in place. We can also support you through complex projects and critical incidents.

Our team is distributed globally and deeply rooted in the movements we serve. We are technologists, trainers, and risk advisers. But we’re also human rights defenders, climate activists, and digital rights advocates – people who’ve faced the same threats we now help others manage. This lived experience shapes everything we do.

We may be the right partner for you if you’re facing serious threats or navigating complex, overlapping risks across cybersecurity, privacy, information risk, physical safety, wellbeing, and more.

We also collaborate with other trusted providers. We have mutual referral agreements with organisations including Access Now’s Digital Security Helpline and Amnesty Security Lab, and are a member of the NGO Information Sharing and Analysis Center (NGO-ISAC).

“When two of our Goldman Environmental Prize winners needed an immersion into digital security, Open Briefing organised valuable training sessions. The training was comprehensive and accessible, and our Prize winners have strengthened their security measures as a direct result.”
