If you have experience in managing security risks for environmental campaigners, human rights defenders and other civic actors, speak fluent Portuguese and currently live in or are from Latin America, we want to hear from you.

Opportunities for Arabic, Pashto and Dari/Farsi speaking counsellors at Open Briefing (remote)
Due to increased demand, we need to expand our team of experienced consultant counsellors who speak Arabic, Pashto and Dari or Farsi. You will be providing remote counselling to humanitarian aid workers and human rights defenders living and working in some of the most challenging environments worldwide. You need to be a qualified, experienced, accredited and insured counsellor with experience in the humanitarian or rights-based sectors.
Opportunities for wellbeing trainers at Open Briefing (remote)
We need to expand our team of consultant trainers in response to increased demand for online trainings on staff wellbeing. Working with clients of all sizes, from small human rights groups to global humanitarian agencies, our trainers take staff through a series of online trainings. You should be familiar with Psychological First Aid, comfortable designing and delivering online programmes, and ideally be a member of a relevant mental health accrediting body.
Launch of three new programmes
Open Briefing is launching three exciting new programmes: funded support, open resources, and collaboration and engagement. Together with our long-standing consultancy and training programme, these new programmes will help us achieve our mission to defend, strengthen and empower those on the frontlines of civil society.
Funding news!
We are delighted to announce new funding for Open Briefing's work from Oak Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy and Ford Foundation. This success puts us in a strong position at a very difficult time to expand our support to those defenders, collectives, and civil society organisations most at risk, particularly in the global south.
The Holistic Security Protocol for Human Rights Defenders
Open Briefing has today launched the Holistic Security Protocol for Human Rights Defenders. The Defender’s Protocol will help at-risk defenders around the world advance their physical safety, digital security, and wellbeing and resilience. By following the protocol, defenders can enhance their individual and collective security, and reduce the burden of attacks, harassment, and censorship on them and their communities.
Frontline Travel: A new free app for freelance journalists and independent media organisations in high-risk environments
Two hundred journalists have been killed in the last five years, with another 500 imprisoned; 64 journalists are currently missing. Ahead of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May, we are today launching a vital free app for freelance journalists and independent media organisations travelling or working in high-risk environments.
Open Briefing publishes good practice standards for NGO travel security
Civil society organisations, humanitarian aid agencies and independent media organisations frequently send staff to work in complex security environments. But many small organisations in particular do not have the necessary knowledge, experience or procedures to keep their people safe in such contexts. In response, we have today published a set of 20 good practice standards for travel security.
