As we near the end of 2020, it is time to reflect a little on our successes while recognising the hugely demanding year it has been for our team. We are all taking time to recoup and spend time with our friends and families over the holiday season. We will be closing the Open Briefing office and pausing operations for three weeks from 19 December to 10 January inclusive. Taking some time to rest will allow our team to continue to meet the massive demand for our support over the coming year. We hope that you get the opportunity to do the same. Happy holidays!

Holistic security support
Open Briefing can provide funded holistic security support to rights-based civil society organisations, collectives and defenders working in the global south that cannot otherwise fund this support.
New! The Holistic Security Helpline
At-risk defenders can now book a free one-hour phone consultation with one of our team. Users can request a consultation to discuss a safety and security, digital security or wellbeing and resilience concern. As well as advice, our consultants can signpost them to resources or refer on to our clinics or intensive support.
New safety and resilience clinics for defenders and organisations in the Americas
Open Briefing is running a series of free monthly online clinics for rights-based defenders, collectives and organisations in the Americas between November 2020 and June 2021.
We’re hiring: Wellbeing and Resilience Lead [Applications closed!]
Due to the end of an interim appointment and an increase in demand for our wellbeing support, we are seeking to contract a highly-experienced and capable consultant to lead our wellbeing and resilience workstream and play an active role in our senior management team.
Resources for protest leaders and aid workers added to Holistic Security Toolkit
We have added protest leaders and aid workers to the list of communities covered by our Holistic Security Toolkit. The Toolkit is a curated library of essential resources for specific communities of at-risk civic actors. The third-party resources can be filtered by one or more of the following variables: Language (English, Spanish), Community (Women human rights defenders, LGBT+ activists, Environmental defenders, Freelance journalists, Protest leaders, Aid workers) or Domain (Safety and security, Digital security, Wellbeing and resilience).
Free security frameworks for at-risk civil society organisations with Frontline Policies
Rights-based and humanitarian organisations must take risks to achieve change in the world. But in the face of attacks, harassment, and censorship, how do they take the right risks? Our new tool builds free security frameworks for at-risk civil society organisations in English and Spanish.
Opportunities for Spanish-speaking digital and information security consultants and trainers
Due to the increased demand for our support from rights-based civil society organisations, collectives, and defenders in the global south, Open Briefing needs to expand its team of digital and information security consultants and trainers. You must have excellent written and spoken Spanish and English, and ideally be based in or from Latin America. You must have experience in the NGO sector, ideally with low-resource rights-based, environmental or humanitarian organisations or activists.
