James Eaton-Lee is the director of digital and information security at Open Briefing. James is a technologist with over 20 years experience in privacy, digital safety, and cybersecurity, with the last eight years in senior roles in the nonprofit sector. Most recently, James was the chief information security officer at the global humanitarian consortium NetHope, and ran its digital protection programme for NGOs. He was previously the head of information security at Oxfam GB, where he built and ran its first privacy and security team, and director of privacy and responsible data at Simprints, a nonprofit technology company from the University of Cambridge. As a board member, adviser, and volunteer, James has supported dozens of communities and projects to work safely and sustainably, from grassroots human rights defenders to the open source and technology communities. Before moving into the non-profit sector, he spent a decade as a cybersecurity consultant across a range of industries.
